Pedro's first students from the local Vo Tech school arrived to begin their carpentry course. We are excited about this new outreach in which we will be helping men of all ages learn this skill. Knowing Pedro, it will also be an opportunity to share the love of God with these men of San Luis.
A sense of anticipation was felt by all as we had our first day of the Caring Hearts Middle School. What started as an inquiry on a possible improvement of this level of education grew quickly to a reality and we welcomed 15 students to this exciting new adventure, 5 from our homes and 10 from our church and staff members. Our teacher previously worked in Pedro's home town and is excited for the new project. Please pray as we start out this new road, all in hopes of giving the best to our adolescents.
God is moving in the Caring Hearts church while we go through our transition time without a pastor. People have been inviting friends and neighbors and every service has seen new people come in. Please continue to pray as our board ponders options for the church's future.
Here is a picture of the Oasis extension in progress. Soon it will be completed. The boys have been doing most of the work under the guidance of Brother Pedro, it has been a great learning experience for them.
Our friend Manuel Aranda, Pastor of the Getsemani Church, has decided to leave the pastorate of the Caring Hearts Church. We thank him for his many years of service to the people of our community. We are saddened by his absence but sense that God has great things in store, and already we are seeing His hand move in the Caring Hearts Church. Please pray as we go through a transition time and seek God's will concerning a full time pastor.
The beginning of August brought four members of our board as well as the new president of Cornerstone Television and his family. We had a series of meetings to discuss new projects and look at ways of moving ahead with the Caring Hearts Church.
A youth group from Monroeville Assembly of God visited us the last week of July. They blessed Caring Hearts painting, visiting with the children and ministering throughout town. Here are some pictures for you.
Ever since we got back from our vacation in July we have been busy here, came back in the middle of a big group, and then we had members of our board here for a week. I am finally getting back to doing some reports, so stay tuned as I will posting several today to get caught up.
Check this link, San Luis is Number 1! Whohoo!
Thanks to a generous gift from the 1st United Methodist Church of Vandergrift PA and a recommendation from friends of Papa Harold, we were able to get 10 new computers for Oasis and Bethel. We were also able to get new computers for our computer teacher and Juana. Here are some photos of the Oasis units.
