Lots of people are ordering their Christmas presents online these days. From the time you click "Purchase" to the time it arrives at your house, you check the tracking number in anticipation to see where it is and when it might be coming. When it arrives at your house, it's exciting, and the gift hasn't even been given yet.
Christmas is the time of year when we celebrate the arrival of the greatest gift that was ever given. Our Lord humbling himself to become a helpless baby, who would eventually give his life for us, is definitely something to celebrate.
The humility with which Christ's original gift arrived is something that can guide us. He didn't descend with trumpets and thunder, displaying all the splendor that he could rightfully claim. He was born just like any other baby, and in a barn no less. He did have star and a host of angels to declare his birth, but the only ones who showed up were some stinky shepherds and a few foreign wise men (who were probably a few years late to boot). And that's just the way he wanted it.
Take a look at some of the ministries you can help maintain by giving to Caring Hearts. You might be surprised that even a seemingly insignificant gift can have a huge impact.
CTVN brought a diverse team of several generations from Tennessee and Pennsylvania. They spent the week ministering to the church, the villages, the children at the soup kitchen, the shut ins, the dump, and painted the local school. One thing that stuck out the most was how each person on the team used their individual talents and skills to share hope with the people. Flo preached a powerful message at church, Graham played soccer with the Oasis Boys, Jean provided guidance, meals and hospitality to the team and to the people in the villages, Tom led amazing village ministry, Lalo led spanish worship, Beverly and Peggy led spirit filled prayers, Deb taught the children the wordless book and had gifts everywhere we went, Johnny preached messages of hope, Dan exuded grace and love, Melonie's testimony changed lives, Missy and Tom also shared powerful testimonies, and Ashley's medical skills were crucial in certain situations. No one went un-used. Through this team, a shut in family now has money for rent, another has new beds, and another has money for diapers. Hundreds of clothes were distributed, and countless needs were met, all in the name of Jesus! Praise God for this week in the Lord. Thank you Cornerstone TVN!
