Luke 18:16

But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

More Than a Meal

For many children in San Luis, hunger is a daily reality. Some go days without knowing when they will eat next, while others are forced to beg or steal just to survive.

Although public education is free, many children are still unable to attend because their families cannot afford transportation, school uniforms, or supplies. Without supervision or support, countless children are left without both the nourishment and education they need to thrive.

A Place of Hope and Belonging

In response to this need, Caring Hearts supports the Soup Kitchen, serving children six days a week. Every morning, children receive a bagged lunch, though many finish their meal before even leaving the gates because they are so hungry.

Beyond providing food, the Soup Kitchen offers a safe place where children are loved, encouraged, and cared for. Every Saturday, children gather for classes and games, and during the summer, day camps give them a safe place to learn, play, and grow. At times, more than 200 children have attended.

Many children walk to the soup kitchen alone, often without shoes, knowing they will find not only a meal, but also hope, compassion, and people who genuinely care for them.
