Most people would not think of making a living for themselves by going to the local dump and collecting trash to potentially find something redeemable, but to many families in San Luis, this is an everyday reality. The temperature on a summer day in this desert can get up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, which only magnifies the intense odors permeating from the waste of a city. No matter the heat, the people still go to see what they can find. Despite their hard work, they are still living in poverty.

Caring Hearts Ministries established a watering station to supply water and ice daily for those in need. This is life saving to many who were drinking out of the dirty canal that runs through the dump.
